    Compile the kernel for Slackware: it can be interesting to do
    Compile the kernel for Debian: yeah.. why not?

    can someone tell me why big software companys are not writting for linux?, why don’t they start making linux versions of their software and sellling it as they would windows? as soon as this happens im moving to linux, please tell me someone as I have spent 2 hours googling and cant find out, reply to this comment!. thanks in advanced.

    linux works like your fridge! cool inside, and this is the most natural thing.
    to compile a kernel needs lots of more things you must know. ive done it! 1 week mind-quest to configure it, and i can give you an advice: to learn it needs time at once, but using windows paltform means you must fix it again, and again, whitch means more time.

    but if your buying it of ebay its got going to support the distribution to support the distribution get a copy off the red hat website but I got a free copy of Kubuntu and Ubuntu sent to my home 4 free :-P

    mmmm in opensuse, fedora and many distros (rpm based) you can just download the newest kernell in RPM format and just install it whitout compile it… thats my point. sorry if i wasn’t clear before.

    there’s no ISO of kernel.. there are ISO images of distros but not kernel

    you dont download the source code… you can download an ISO copy, and just burn it, and install it.. ther are many distros redhat(fedora free), opensuse, ubuntu, etc…
