Just some advice to abusingchild. Linux is great however you must be willing to take the time to learn how to use it. INstead of clicking an exe file to install programs you will have to compile them yourself in a text based terminal. This can be frustrating if you don tknow how to use it. Also try “wubi” Its a wonderful program that allows you to boot into Ubuntu without partitioning your hardrive.

Linux is the operating system (similar to Windows), in my comment I recomanded Ubuntu. Ubuntu is an operating system that is based on the Linux system. Well! It’s the operating system that is free, not the computer! And no, you need to get a touchscreen to do this, any screen can’t just become a touchscreen.
