Other than http://www.emu-alliance.com, does anybody know of any sites where i can download the rom 'backups' of games i 'own', ie SNES GBC/GBA roms?

to the one in the dark, a rom is the computerized backup of a videogame, ie a nes or snes, sega, ect. Legally if you own something, you are alowed to have one back up copy of it incase if something happens to it. You are just not allowed to run both copies at the same time. Now since it takes special hardware to extract the rom images off a video game cartrage, the only way most people can get 'backups of games they 'own'' is to download them off the internet, which due to the DMCA and all that bull sh!t it gets harder and harder to do.

Now, as for those links, they kinda go to nowhere. I wish i could just find a nice ftp site with roms on it. argh!!!

Try IRC...I knew of a nice channel that hosted pratically any game up to N64....alas I don't remember it. Just search around on IRC, your bound to find a nice place :P

although IRC is just a chat program (irc = internet relay chat), it does enable users to transfer files :o. Many places have servers setup where you can download from them (*wink* *wink*), and other places will want you to trade (no way jose).

all in all, you can download stuff off IRC.

you can ask around for places that have them, i don't know of any myself.

oooh oooh i have mIRC :) i have... the... hold on... Sign of the Cross II script :) it is the shizzy lol... but yeah u can download stuff off of IRC ummm i think i remember one on ZIRC or MD... you can ask me for MD address since almost nothing has it... someone hacked the server once tho and it had.... technical difficulties for... say.... 6 months? anywayz i think its back to normal

If your still looking for some ROMs, just give me a holler. Anything in particular you are looking for? I don't have any (never even tried a ROM before) but I know of a private members-only uhh "backup" community I could checkout for you.
