Default PS2 or Xbox?

My cousins are split on whether to get a PS2 or an Xbox. I wanted to get some votes and see what people here thought.

It really doesn't make a difference to me which they would purchase. I don't play console games too much.

I added that as a choice for the poll. Personally I agree.. I think a console is a waste of money.

in the world of consoles i prefer ps2. while it originally did not come with anything, sony released a linux developers package a while back which came with a 40 gig harddrive, a network adapter, a copy of linux, and i believe it also included a usb keyboard and mouse. also, sony recently released an updated version of the ps2 that comes with a dvd+/- r|rw drive in place of the original dvd drive. also, you have to remember that the ps2 was released well before the xbox and is backward compatible with original playstation games and accessories

I like both ps2 and xbox. processing speeds in the world of consoles mean nothing to me. If the game runs correctly on the ps2, then who needs more speed? Also don't confuse yourself with the speed of the console. It isnt based off a computer like the xbox is. These arn't AMD and Intel chips your dealing with. They are created to run on a console not a computer. Also keep in mind that the clock speed doesn't necessarily mean how good a computer is either. There are other variables to be dealth with as well. Just like comparing a hard drive, you shouldn't assume just cause it is 5400/7200/10000/15000 RPM(Rotations Per Minute), it is good. Wow I typed a bunch...
