If you are running Windows XP and if you have a spare computer....here is a simple method.
1. Create a boot disk with NTFS DOS 2. Search for these two files on google. "pwdump2.exe" "samdump.dll" 3. Put those two files in any directory you would like or put them on the boot disk.....that would probrably be the easiest way. 4. Once in DOS and in the directory those two files are stored, type: "pwdump2 > hashed.txt" This will create a text file with your hashed passwords 5. Now look for a program on the internet called LC4. If i'm not mistaken, I believe it is made by @stake. Download it and install it. 6. On your other computer(which I am assuming you have another computer you can access since you were able to post a message in the first place) tell LC4 to import a "PWDUMP" file (that text file you saved) 7. Now tell it to start and eventually your password will be cracked. This is saying you have Windows XP hehe.... I know there is a much easier method which easily resets your password to nothing....but I can't think of it ATM....sorry :( Perhaps Tommy or somebody else knows of it :P Hope this helps *EDIT* Also trying going to http://http://www.lostpasswo...000-nt.htm They seem to have some sort of demo program that will reset your password. I'm not sure if it will work or not, but I figured I would let you know about it as an alternative. |

Thank you for your response. I am running XP and I have downloaded the "pwdump2.exe" file and the "LC4" program, but I cannot find/download the "samdump.dll" file.
I will try the steps you provided and hopefully all works well :) Thank You |

If you need that samdump.dll file email me at warklantd@lakeleamon.com, im me on AIM at WarklanMike, or PM on this forum. I'd be happy to send it to you.
I also hear a program called CIA Commander is effective at reseting the password. Sadly the only method I have actually used is the one using LC4. Depending on the length of the password will depend on how long it takes to find the password. The LC4 method just brute forces (fast I might add) until it finds your password. The other methods I was talking about are used to plain out reset it nice and easy :P If you just went to reset the password, give CIA Commander a try. I hear it fits on a disk and does wonders for simple resetting of the password :P Best of luck to getting back on your computer :P *Edit Again 3/15/04* Just get CIA Commander. If your looking to reset the password. Use this program. It is a very simple program for doing this. |

i'm just curious, but is LC4 that l0phtcrack program?
oh yeah, in that case, LC5 is out. and the company was acquired by Symantec, so it probably isn't a virus. [url=http://img.suprnova.org/template/undefined/torrents/2775/L0phtCrack%20LC5%20v5.04%20%5Bwww.Bubbas-World.net%5D.torrent:38uwi656]torrent[/url:38uwi656] |
