Default How can I make mp3s?

How can I make my own mp3s? Examples are me singing, messages for/from friends/family members, ect.
I am not asking how to rip a cd, but I am asking how I can make one from scratch.
Thank you for any help.

Cool Edit Pro 2.0 is a good program...but really all you need is a Mic...

Windows has a built in recording program that can make Mp3s.

(for future tech questions, you may want to direct yourself to my site)

@headnerd:
ermm... download.com.com = download.com
as also same in: news.com.com = news.com

anyway back to subject... it really depends on what you are trying to make. if your looking for something to record ure voice, then cool edit pro might be a good choice. if your looking for more of a sequencer/synthesizer to make ure own music or whatnot, fruityloops and/or reason pro are good for that.

It also depends a lot on what you are trying to do. Do you already have the files on your PC but you just want to convert them to mp3? Do you already have a mic and want to make your own recordings?

It was a joke xero...hence the wink after the first line, and the laughing face after the second...

Anyways...I highly dislike Fruity Loops...the whole interface is horrible.

forgive me i failed to see the sarcasm in your statement heh..

fruity loops is easy to learn, while still pretty powerful... reason has super functionality, but might have a bit of a high learning curve..

Bah, its ok. My mistake, I forget sometimes that sarcasm is not as easy to type as it is to say, lol.

Anyways...I got confused with fruity loops...although, I didn't give it the full affection of my entire concentration because I got it for more more of a random download...but if I really needed it I suppose I could try to learn it.

It is pretty confusing on first glance though.
