Gzip/.gz compression maker

I need a windows program that can make .gz files. GZip is a unix based compression. All the ones I have seen are for unix or create ".tar.gz" files.

Anyone?

Winrar does not make .gz files.

Just get a program that makes tarballs, then put the tarballs in a gzip archive with a gzip utility. That's how tar.gz files are made.

Yes, I need a gzip utility. What is a good one? All the ones I have seen that claim to do it, do ".tar.gz" I need a stand alone ".gz"

I tested it, it creates and extracts *.gz dandily.

I have tried using this too. It only archives one file. And trying to archive an archive doesnt work either.

I see... and you can't mange the archive with winrar once it's created. It only decodes them. I realize there is no menu option to create a *.gz but I was hoping it might be able to compress additional files into an already existing gzip file... I tried with no luck, it flat out tells you "homie don't play that."

I'll keep looking.
