Default Help a Forum Newb?

My friend has started up a forum for his website. He's still working on his website and, right now, has just put up an incredibly old, simple, boring layout. The address to the forums is [url=http://www.lessmind.org/forums/:db0wnkfe]http://www.lessmind.org/forums/[/url:db0wnkfe].

Anyway, we need help on fixing the error, and because we're fairly new to this we have no idea where to start. We want to learn though, so we can handle these problems in the future with more ease, so could someone help us out right now?

We get this error (which you can see right now by visiting the website):

Warning: mysql_connect(): Access denied for user: 'lessmin_ivbd2@localhost' (Using password: YES) in /home/lessmin/public_html/forums/sources/Drivers/mySQL.php on line 65
Warning: mysql_select_db(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/lessmin/public_html/forums/sources/Drivers/mySQL.php on line 68
ERROR: Cannot find database lessmin_ivbd2
Warning: mysql_query(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/lessmin/public_html/forums/sources/Drivers/mySQL.php on line 101

There appears to be an error with the .less//MIND database.
You can try to refresh the page by clicking here, if this does not fix the error, you can contact the board administrator by clicking here

mySQL error code:

We apologise for any inconvenience

I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me the possible answers for how this error popped up and how solutions to solve it. I think it might have something to do with the passwords, but I'm not certain as Mindess and I have not changed the passwords at all when this came up.

Translation of error: It can't connect to the database.

Reasons: Usually you typed in the username wrong, password wrong, didnt give user access to the database.

Best thing to do is just check your typing carefully.

Yeah, I figured it couldn't connect to the database because of something with the password or username--but I don't understand how this could've just happened without anyone making any changes to anything.

Any idea on how to fix this? It shows up for every user going to the forum and I have no idea what I need to do to change the password or where to go or anything like that.

Thanks.

invision.. hmmm
Well the thing is, i dont think you can change the db info after its installed, just reupload the install script and run it again, make sure your useing the correct information, and your caps lock isnt down. or pay 60 odd dollars and have a dude from ibs do it for you your choice

you can edit invision db through phpmyadmin, i just reuploaded a backup onto a fresh install on gtachat.com (server got hacked) and all the posts and such are back.

goturuge, i would suggest backing up your entire database, and then attempting to edit it to allow access, or simply reinstall the forum and upload the sql dump.

i would also suggest finding a host with fantastico, as that allows invision along with many other scripts to be installed much quicker than it is to upload and configure them manually.

I've heard a lot about a config.php file--but I can't fidn it anywhere. Where is this freakin' file? In the FTP, cpanel, phpmyadmin, where? What di I need to do to access this file and look through it to make any necessary changes?

If you are using cPanel check you type in username as cpanelusername_username and cpanelusername_database name instead of just username & database name.
