Default GD library for php

someone who knows how to work with servers and stuff should install the GD library for php. it shouldnt be too tough. for those of you who dont know what GD is, it is an addon for php that allows u to manipulate images (eg. make thumbnails, greyscale images, get image sizes, change color of images, also can manipluate .swf files which i have never done myself, but could help some). this doesnt effect the server at all, it just lets people use additional php features if they wish.

ImageMagick does the same thing and it's better than GD... The only problem is, I don't think Tommy has the power to do that. I thought he was hosted on someone elses server. He can only do that if it's his server...

No, but I know that in Perl, you can have it look for a specific module in a specific place. So you can install the module in a folder of your own and use it.

I can install stuff, but I dont want to take the risk. Also, the people who house the server would prefer that I heavily limit my installations on the server.
