Default Less Time, Too Much to learn; Please HElp

hi all,
i have been trying my best to think up of every script i need to set up a community site similar to.....www.pcplayground and http://www.hotscripts.com.
I am a win32 programmer and already have had to learn a lot in this area including different languages to do certain tasks. i thought web site designing would come easier but there is lots to learn and less time to build my site.
i was planning to make a community site that combines features found on the following sites..
1) pcplayground.com (Forum & News Scripts.....Rating of users according to expierence and help they have offered)
2)nerdhelp.com(Help Forum...links etc similar to pcplayground.com)
3) http://www.hotscripts.com....(Users submit there code and others rate it)

All in all, i want a site that can assist developers in the programming language i use. i have tried to code it but i have no time since i have to be helping out other programmers in other forums.
i would like to know what is the best path to use....should i use phpNuke? How do i install it? and will Tommy need to setup for me,dbases...etc?
Would i be needing phpmyadmin?.....please people give me all details i need if you can so that i continue on my other projects while keeping other programmers happy.

Sounds like your most wanted feature is a forum.

Get phpBB (http://www.phpbb.com) and download some news addons and whatnot.

Or a portal.

Go to my site http://www.cgart.tk and see if thats what you like.

To get the portal go to http://www.xoops.org .

For other portals go check these out:
http://www.myphpnuke.com < with a simple built-in forum

http://phpnuke.org < what pcplayground uses i think. But ask tommy or someone where they got a version with phpbb pre-installed.

http://www.postnuke.com < i dunno if it has a pre-installed forum with it, but its cool too.

The best bet for the features you like might be myphpnuke in my opinion, but the forums arent too good. phpnuke has the most modules so you could probably find the addon feature your looking for with this portal. xoops has good built in stuff, easy to use and some good modules like a gallery and a blog. Check em all out and see what fits you best.

Also, phpmyadmin is just a plus and not really required.

Yes, this site is run off of phpnuke.

The new version (6.5) uses the phpBB forum, so it should just be a simple out of the box install.

If you have nuke 6.0 you can convert it into the phpBB forum by getting "bb2nuke" at http://bbtonuke.sourceforge.net/

Default phpnuke mods

I have phpnuke installed on my site logicsoft.pcplayground.com. I would like to know how to get that vertical scroller similar to that at pcplayground.com that shows recent posts.

BTW, has anyone experienced this? i installed a theme for my nuke and this theme messes my Forum. This maybe b'se phpBB inherits nukes styles(CSS) or they conflict.
