how long does it get to activate an account?

I signed up for an account today.
I went to sign up webhosting and it said

How long until it will be activated?

Thank you, but now it won't smartftp won't let me in.
It says

I followed the directions in the email address.

I can connect fine. Try switching between "ftp://alphina.pcplayground.com" and alphina.pcplayground.com (no ftp://).
