well... i have full year courses and semester-long courses... for the full year courses we have midterms AND finals (Midyear and end of the year) and i guess you could call them finals for the semester long courses

School rules!

mid terms are (at least in my case) finals that are in the middle of the year. this year all of my teachers called it a final, hence my school's calling it finals week. yes, it is a mid-term. its all in your connotation.
