I am deeply dissappointed in the nature of this website.
I was once hosted by PCplayground.com running a jokes site (Jokes 2003). Two months ago, very sudden, my hosting account was discontinued. I was very curious as to why this happened and was never completely satisfied with the answers I recevied. NOW I know why I was cancelled. Because PCPlayground ripped my site! If you point your browser to thisisthelast.net/index.html you will see what I am talking about. This website is an EXACT copy of the old Jokes 2003! The layout is the same, the font is the same, the color scheme and navigation scheme: all IDENTICAL. Even the wording on the site stolen. (Welcome to the home of Humor Playground, the next dimension of humor. I DON'T THINK SO!) The only difference is the dissappearance of a mailing list, and the change of "Jokes 2003" to "Humor Playground." The jokes I cannot argue about, as they have been passed down from generation to generation, and are now public domain. However, the pictures and cartoons are stolen, and even listed in the exact same order as once seen at http://jokes2003.pcplayground.com. You might have a hard time explaining in court how these copyrighted images arrived at your site... I was forced to pay for a new host and domain name ( http://www.jokes2003.com ), and had to design an entirely new page design. And that is not the biggest of my worries. You can keep your jokes, you can keep your layout, you can keep your cartoons and pictures. But in no way, shape, or form, may you use Mo the Furball on Humor Playground. I am the graphic designer who created this character, and held a month-long naming contest, and you passed my work off as your own. What a disgrace. The jokes, layout, cartoons, and pictures many remain the same (as long as you give Jokes 2003 credit for it). However, the mascot must be IMMEDIATELY removed, and the home page must be reworded entirely. These phrases are the works of Jokes 2003, and no one else's. I expect these changes to be made, and a written apology from Humor Playground and/or PCplayground.com within 1 week. July 11, 2003. Goodday sirs. |

you do realize that you look like a jackass for posting this in 5 categories. all that does is disrupt the use of the site for everyone else. try this....
1.delete the other 4 posts that say the ecxact same thing. 2.send and email to tommy AND someone else(proof it was sent) stating what you believe he has done wrong and what you wish him to do 3.wait for a response to see what tommy has to say about it as for the entire issue, i am not going to take sides. i never viewed your site while you were hosted here. i have seen the same amount of proof that tommy copied your site as i have seen to say the opposite(that you copied tommy). something else you might try, is logging on to jokes2003.pcplayground.com via ftp. (there was an issue a while ago with downtime/data loss). mainly, please delete your other posts as they interfere with other peoples use of this site, and try to find some actual proof that tommy copied your site. simply claiming that is what happened means nothing, seeing as i could claim to have hosted the exact same joke site and you would have no proof that i hadnt |

i wonder if there is anything in the TOS here that says that whatever content you upload is property of pcplayground and may be used by pcplayground and its owner(s) (Tommy, the owner). I would be completely fine if that was in there-- also there probably is something that says the TOS can be changed at any time w/o notice..
just a heads up to Tommy... oh yeah and what about the font being stolen... i thought that the fonts used are public domain? and what's the deal with this: <META NAME="Generator" CONTENT="thisisthelast.net"> what is thisisthelast.net, i know ive seen it somewhere before around here... oh i think its Tommy's cuz i see it on his signature at nukecops, as well as pcplayground.com (ie: http://www.nukecops.com/postp11830.html) whoops nevermind that is the site. (oops!) |

About using your site, simple. I got written permission from you to do so. |

I did not give you written permission to rip off my site.
When you offered me hosting, you asked for the jokes in return. I complied, because as I stated before, oral tradition makes these jokes public domain, and I am in no position to claim that I hold copyright to such material. HOWEVER, I did not give any priveleges to uses of the cartoons, pictures, or page layout. This especially includes the mascot images, which I hope will be removed almost immediately. |
