For the record, those quotes are from people in colonial times...which means they have nothing to do with our country going to pot...However, yes, George Washington was a HUGE hemp farmer.

LOL, nah, I don't smoke pot. I'm one of those rare people that actually support it for its OTHER uses.

i know those are quotes from people in colonial times. the country going to pot comment was a bad attempt at a joke/word play.

the website is to tell congress to prevent the illegalization of things such as types of candy, clothing, and hair care products. because of trace amounts of THC in the materials. which means that you could be arrested, and then jailed and fined $10,000 if your shampoo has a trace amount of THC.

Default Drug's & Legality in the U.S

K.
I hate to go and be all serious on this but I'm afraid I have to. Course I won't be nearly as impressive as HeadNerd over there, who seems to be a closet Histiry Majoy  I mean, I don't recall reading THAT kind of info in any of my school History books. As for the different uses of MaryJ, I think it should be legalized for that matter. Its really only about as harmful as alchohol if you think about it. Yet we all have the right (Those of us at legal age lol) to go out and buy a bottle of whisky. Something wrong with this picture?? What about drugs in general? There are plenbty of nasty drugs out there, yet no matter what we do, people die and get killed over them every day at an astonishing rate. I think drugs should be legalized so that those goodamned drugdealers who shoot people over this mess can't make nay more money off of it. It would also detract from one of the main attraction to drugs, which is what I call the Forbidden Fruit Syndrom Its illegal so people get a kick of the whole hehe, breaking the law this is an adventure feeling. NOt gonna stand up for congress and push this, but people die over this mess everday and its just frustrating is all. OK, I'm done venting now LOL  .

You know whats funny? Marijuana is the most exported product from the US. No, its not corn. Since Marijuana is illegal, that means the US isnt getting any taxes on it, because it is not legally being shipped. Think about how much money the US government could be making if they legalized marijuana.

The problem with legalizing marijuana is that the amount of users/sellers will go up. Since it is no longer legal, you no longer have to hide it. Which means it will be easier to get a hold of. On the other hand, because of this, legalazing marijuana will make the crime rate that is attach to marijuana increase. Anyone ever heard of prohibitation? Thats when they made alcohol illegal. The crime rate related to alcohol went up (gangster era), and the usage level went down. When alcohol was legal, usage level went up, crime rate related to alcohol went down.

Why do they allow alcohol and tobbaco stay legal, even though it isnt any worse than marijuana? Simple. Taxes. Anyone realize how much the taxes are on cigarettes? The US government probably gets billions of dollars off the taxes. If they made it illegal, they would stop getting taxes off of cigarettes.

here are some responses to some post made. i also am going to explain again, that alcohol, tobacco, prescription drugs, and even over the counter drugs and caffiene are all more dangerous the marijuana by far. the government is simply lying to you when they say that marijuana is an extremely dangerous and deadly drug. it is simply time to come to the realization that our government is corrupt and continually lies to us all.

tommy- legalization of marijuana would also result in regulation of marijuana, your increase of users/sellers would be a relative increase, since the majority of users are teenagers. the regulation of marijuana would most likely make it illegal for marijuana to be sold to anyone under 18. which, would decrease the number of teen users in as few as 10 years. also, the regulation of marijuana would cause the number of sellers to decrease, since 7 eleven would have dime bags stocked behind the counter, there would be fewer dealers selling on the street, and fewer users reselling. Upon legalization of marijuana, Congress would almost immediatly be able to pass legislation taxing marijuana, which would substantially raise tax revenues. Legalization of marijuana would also help stimulate the economy, because hemp would also become completely legal in all forms. Creating new industries and enlarging some current industries.

enchantress- it is not true that marijuana is just as harmful as alcohol, alcohol which causes about 100,000 deaths each year, is much more harmful than marijuana. also, the reason you dont recall reading any of this in your history book, is because the U.S. Government doesn't want people to know the facts because it makes them look bad(does that remind anyone else of how the Nazis burned books in Germany?).
