A desktop performs better, cost lower and has a bigger monitor generally. A laptop is smaller and it has batteries.

A guy that moves from one place to another and stays away from home a lot of times will be dissapointed to get a desktop for his home he hardly see.

A guy that stays at home most of his time will be a sucker for getting a crappy laptop that always stays at his work desk collecting what would be desktop dust.
