You could use individual scripts like Coranto and PhpBB. Then using a coranto addon. (http://coranto.gweilo.org) You can get a comments addon. Where people will be able to comment on your news using the phpbb interface. (you can change it etc) Its really customizable. Also try to get polls scripts off sites. Like i use XPoll which i found off a website. (i think its called XPoll...) Any other things u might want?
