yes that one file is an archive file... you say it was tar? well just use an unzipping program (alzip, winrar, etc) and extract on your own computer first. then upload the files/folders, making sure to keep the same directory strcture.

but it seems to me your having trouble unzipping or untar'ing, just go to http://www.downloads.com or something and get alzip (my personal fav) but theres always winzip, winrar, etc
