No offense, but you are just part of the system. Death metal and black metal and all that just preys on the hormonal stage that every teenage (usually male) person goes through. This is why you say the music "speaks to you"...it's because it just mimics the emotions you are naturally having.
Now...hard rock is good..beats and what not...but the music that is just like "f*** you fuckers and f*** your mom" and the singer tries so desperately to sound like some sort of demon...I think that stuff is just retarded.

just like you said... it's about your current mood or current place in life...
in like sixth grade i was listening to KoRn and Manson and that stuff, but 4th grade was Hanson and Spice Girls...
now i have no real distaste for any 'type' of music. it's just what im in the mood for... i still listen to both korn and hanson, but im also listening to the shins and wilco and herbie hancock and just... everything....
